DocSmart started with a simple idea: businesses deserve better tools to manage their information - without limitations. Founder Treve Clayton saw that outdated folder systems left too many organisations struggling to find the information they needed.

Since then, DocSmart has grown into New Zealand’s leading M-Files provider, backed by a close-knit team of experts who are passionate about making information work for people.

2009

DocSmart is Born

Treve launched DocSmart to help businesses get the right technology for their needs.

2012

Discovering M-Files

After exploring metadata-driven document management, Treve partnered with M-Files, seeing its potential to revolutionise the way businesses handle information.

2013

The Game-Changer

At his first M-Files Partner Conference in Prague, Treve made a bold decision: DocSmart would focus entirely on M-Files leaving behind photocopiers and phone systems.

2014–2018

Rapid Growth

DocSmart helped 15-20 businesses each year implement smarter document solutions, refining processes to deliver seamless experiences.

2018

Making a National Impact

The Department of Internal Affairs invited DocSmart onto a panel to help co-design Enterprise Content Management as a Service (ECMaaS) for the NZ Government.

2020

Supporting Government Agencies

DocSmart became the first content management solution pre-approved for NZ government agencies on the Pae Hokohoko Marketplace.

DocSmart is built on trust, passion, and a love for what we do. Founded by Treve and his wife Kellie, the business has grown into a close-knit team that values experience, relationships, and long-term partnerships. With long-standing team members like Greg (10+ years), Graham (7+ years), and Kristin (8+ years), we bring deep expertise and a genuine commitment to every project.

In 2023, Treve’s daughter Mackensie joined the team, bringing a new generation into the business. The team aren’t just colleagues they travel together, share big summer BBQs, and genuinely enjoy their work.

Director
Treve founded DocSmart Solutions in 2009 with a vision to deliver smart, cost-effective software solutions backed by expert implementation. With over 20 years in the technology sector, he brings a wealth of experience in helping organisations work DocSmarter through better information management.

Greg Quinn

Consultant
Greg has more than 20 years’ experience as an ICT consultant, working with a wide range of New Zealand organisations. He is a certified M-Files Solution Engineer and Solution Architect, with expertise in planning, configuring, and delivering tailored business solutions that drive real impact.

Graham Hurwood

Consultant
With over 18 years’ experience in IT, business process, and enterprise content management, Graham is both a certified M-Files Solution Engineer and Solution Architect. He has delivered high-quality ECM solutions across industries in both the UK and New Zealand.

Mackensie Clayton

Customer Success & Project Coordinator
Mackensie brings hands-on experience from a range of specialised industries across New Zealand. With a strong understanding of how different businesses operate, she helps clients get the most value from M-Files through thoughtful coordination and customer support.

Kristin Grant

Consultant
Kristin has over 30 years’ experience across education, corporate, and technology sectors, with a background in training, business analysis, and channel management. After 8 years with DocSmart and a brief time away, we’re thrilled to have her back - bringing deep expertise in process improvement and solution delivery.

Kellie Vincent

Director & Financial Controller
Kellie is DocSmart’s co-founder and one of the driving forces behind the company’s creation and direction. With many years of experience as a financial controller for DocSmart and other businesses, she brings a sharp financial eye and steady leadership to the team. As both co-founder and strategic partner to Treve, her influence has been instrumental in shaping DocSmart’s growth and values from the very beginning.

Greg has more than 20 years’ experience as an ICT consultant to a wide range of New Zealand-based companies. His expertise encompasses planning, configuring, developing, and managing applications for companies such as Software Spectrum, Telecom Directories and Lotus.

Michelle Stevens

Consultant
Michelle has a wealth of experience in the many facets of business, including customer service, software development, implementation and training, marketing and management. Michelle is M-Files Certified and her roles include discovery, Vault design, installation and training.
